Pulitzer Prize Winning Photographer, Deanne Fitzmaurice joins host Scott Sheppard to share her experiences as one of Microsoft’s newest "Icons of Imaging". Deanne recently left her 15+ year career as a news photojournalist most recently with the San Francisco Chronicle. She has taken the leap into freelance photography and is now focusing on more in-depth documentary projects that she hopes will impact social and environmental change. She also describes her favorite gear and workflow. In 2005, she and her husband photographer Kurt Rogers co-founded Think Tank Photo, developing their own line of camera bags and accessories.
Deanne explains her relationship with her photography subjects, including highlights of her ongoing documentary of the young Iraqi boy who won her the Pulitzer in 2005 and also a new story featuring gay marriages. Deanne also recently began collecting audio interviews along with her photo essays bringing her work into a broader level. Her passion for photography and storytelling are evident in her work.
