Listen NOW…

Aerial Combat Photojournalist, US Air Force, Stacy Pearsall joins host Scott Sheppard to discuss what it takes to become the only woman to receive the highest honor of being named "Military Photographer of the Year", twice. Stacy shares how she began her 10+ year military career and the type of testing and training it took for her to get into this exciting field of photography. With a dream of traveling the world and going to a fine art school, coming from a military family, Stacy took advantage of the various programs available by joining the Air Force. Now, both her and her husband Master Sergeant Andy Dunaway are both aerial combat photojournalists with the 1st Combat Camera Squadron based in Charleston, SC.

While on active duty, Stacy is assigned the task of documenting personnel activities during combat operations, humanitarian relief, training and other day to day activities. Her images are used by senior military leaders, including the President, abreast of overall field activities. Stacy discusses the equipment she uses, currently shooting a Nikon D3, her workflow, and how she sets up her images for instant transfer back to Pentagon and other military image servers that include http://www.defenseimagery.mil/, where press / media outlets can obtain some of her current images.

Stacy also shares some insight and stories about her team, her assignments, and tips on how she carries her gear and keeps her equipment in top shape in the field under some of the harshest conditions. She shares anecdotes of how her skills have evolved into being able to drive a tank, remain armed with other soldiers, all the while keeping her camera close to capture the action from the front lines. Although she admits to not having the easiest job in the world, she feels it has been very rewarding and that her experience with the USAF has been very positive.

You can contact her and find out more information about Stacy and her husband at her personal blog and website: www.f8pj.com. She also shares some of her pictorials and portrait work in galleries on the site.
