Photographer Profile: Joe Baraban

Listen NOW…

DSC_0010.jpgJoe Baraban, Photographer joins host Scott Sheppard to share some tips and insight on what it takes to be a successful commercial photographer. Joe has been shooting professionally for over 35 years and has worked for a range of high-end clients including major brands in automotive, finance, and technology. Joe has won numerous industry awards and has been featured as a speaker and in major photo publications.

He has also done editorial work with National Geographic and The New York Times.

Hear Joe’s journey and experiences with both analog and digital photography equipment and techniques. He has worked extensively throughout his career with most high-end film brands including Kodak and Fuji but now regularly shoots digital. As many skilled photographers, Joe explains the importance of capturing the image right from the camera instead of relying on today’s image editing application and trendy photo gadgets as a crutch to “fix” the photo after the fact or skew the image while capturing.

buick.jpgHe suggests to get back to basics and shoot a few rolls of film, even while capturing images digitally because in the end you will become a better photographer being familiar with both mediums. Joe also discusses his approach to marketing your photography including explaining why he currently maintains two websites. He is also a regular instructor at the Santa Fe Photography and Digital Imaging Workshops.
