Listen NOW…
Associated Press Photographer, Gerald Herbert joins host Scott Sheppard live from a presidential shoot at the White House to discuss his experiences as a photojournalist. Gerald is also a member of the White House News Photographers Assocation whose assignments include frequent trips with the President documenting his activity in the U.S. and abroad.
Gerald explains anecdotes of his regular assignments and some details on his preferred gear and workflow. Based in Washington D.C., he spends most of his day on call. His challenges include capturing the key moments and then instantaneously turning over the digital images onto the AP photo wires to meet the deadlines. Shooting digitally has provided new opportunities but has also added steps to his workflow.
Gerald enjoys the fast paced work environment and continues to push his images to fresh perspectives that showcase the events of our nations leaders at work or on the campaign trail. For more information check out: http://www.digitaljournalist.org/ to see some of his images, visit Google Images.
