David Litschel, Photographer, Author, and Provost of the Brooks Institute of Photography joins host Scott Sheppard for a special edition of Inside Digital Photo this week. In his role as Provost, he is responsible for developing all academic programs at the Institute. Originally an instructor for Brooks Institute, he now hires instructors and lab personnel and oversees the daily academic operations for the school David has been involved in photography and education for over 30 years, one of his specialties is architectural photography and during his tenure as instructor for the Institute developed a course on that topic.

Brooks Institute of Photography is one of the premier educational programs for anyone wishing to have a career in photography, filmmaking or graphic design. The list of faculty includes some of the top names in photography and filmmaking and promote an interactive hands-on environment with their students. They also run workshops throughout the year, considering themselves the “west coast version” of the famous Santa Fe Workshops

Scott and David discuss details of his digital photography workflow including capture, and file management including his experiences with Adobe Lightroom. He is meticulous in maintaining a fully color managed workflow starting with his camera through profiling his output. He also shares some tips on getting into a digital workflow and the importance of color management.

He currently has an exhibit of his travel related work entitled “Images of Northern Italy”, at the Brooks Institute’s Cota Street Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA.
